Brasov County
The Brasov project is aimed at working in an institution where disabled children are looked after by staff with no formal training in working with disabled children and who would benefit from training as care-givers. The development of new generic health and social care roles is a useful way of providing institutionalised children living at this centre with seamless, holistic care.
We aim to create a model of best practice to benefit all the children living in the Centre. It will improve their quality of life by ensuring they obtain the physical and developmental support and care they deserve, enabling them to reach their full potential. Staff are being trained in all aspects of care delivery which is contributing to making their work at the centre more manageable, focused and worthwhile.
F.R.O.D.O. uses teams of UK medical staff and volunteers with extensive experience in both general and special education and previous experience working with disabled children. The teams work closely with their counterparts and our hope is that not only will the government eventually take onus of this project but that the Brasov placement centre can act as a centre of excellence enabling children and staff from centres such as this to be transformed as a result of the project.
